A couple of years after first reading Dan Brown’s first vehicle for Robert Langdon (played by Mr. Tom Hanks) the novel Angels and Demons, I am reading the book again. This time I found it more interesting, maybe because I took my time and perused it at a slower pace than the first time. The reading just seemed to flow with ease plus it reminded me of my stay in Rome and visiting the areas in the eternal city where the book’s story takes place. Rome is one of the most beautiful cities I was very fortunate to travel to and with all that history to experience you cannot help but fall in love with Roma.
It’s funny that when I read DaVinci Code, I could actually visualize Vezu Fache played by Alfred Molina and Aringarosa played by Jean Reno, somewhat opposite casting, but I did see these two wonderful actors being in the movie The DaVinci Code, a film I like more each time I watch it.
With “Angels & Demons” I could not visualize the faces of the characters at all, so it is a good thing that Entertainment Tonight has been playing A&D previews and so far, I noticed that the role of Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca is played by Ewan McGregor. I believe the role of Maximilian Kohler could be Stephan Scarsgard (Bootstrap Turner of Pirates fame) although I can’t be sure. I have no idea who is the actress who will be playing Vittoria Vetra.
I have yet to find out who plays Vatican’s Commander Olivetti, Swiss Guard Commander Rocher, young Swiss Guard Chartrand, Caradinal Mortati, the reporter Glick and videographer Macri. What about Leonardo Vetra, the Pope and yes, the Hassasin - he is absolutely despicable. I cannot wait to see the movie.
It seems The Vatican is not too happy with this movie either, so the premiere of it in Rome might not happen. I cannot figure the opposition to this movie, there is nothing in it that would even begin to weaken my faith in God. Maybe it is the faith in the church by followers that is at stake here. Again, Mr. Brown’s book is a very clever and entertaining novel - just a novel - which will make him even wealthier.
